JUANITA STRYDOM
(4 November 1963 – 31 May 2008)
Screen Africa was deeply saddened to hear of the death of respected commercial producer Juanita Strydom, who passed away on Saturday, 31 May at Johannesburg’s Sandton Clinic, after a long and brave fight against cancer. Juanita is survived by her 16-year old daughter Inez, her two sisters Inet and Lali, and two brothers Jano and Dutoit.
Juanita was born in the Northern Province but grew up in Bloemfontein where she attended Oranje Girls High School. She then went to RAU and to the Pretoria Film School. After working for SATOUR making promotional tourism films, Juanita moved into advertising production.
Juanita loved adventure and was a very fit and active person. She regularly participated in the Argus cycling race and more recently climbed Mount Kilimanjaro with other survivors of breast cancer.
Juanita lived in New Zealand for the past year where she produced promotional tourism films until illness prevented her from working.
Juanita originated Screen Africa’s popular ADcetera page and contributed to it for a year.
Screen Africa staff extend their sincere condolences to Juanita’s family.
The funeral will be held on Monday, 9 June at 2pm at the Emmerntia Rose Garden (next to the Shakespeare Garden) in Johannesburg.
