Just two weeks after Survivor South Africa was announced by M-Net, 4063 wannabe-contestants have completed entry forms online at www.mnet.co.za as of the close of business on 24 April 2006.
Wacky, weird, creative and just plain silly, the entry forms show boundless imagination and prove that most people will do anything to claim a spot in South Africa’s own Survivor, on air on 3 September 2006.
The breakdown reveals that three quarters of entrants are male, with just over 1000 women having completed online entry forms so far. The masses of physical entry forms delivered to Multichoice offices have yet to be counted.
Carl Fischer, Head of M-Net Original Productions, is pleased with the volume and quality of entries received so far. “We’re pleased that people are putting so much effort into their entries. Extra effort is bound to get them noticed in a sea of applications,” he says. Treasure chests, messages in bottles and creative video tapes are just some of the unique entries which have gotten the selections committee’s attention so far.
Survivor South Africa hopefuls have until 30 April to get their entries in to their nearest Multichoice office in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, or enter online at www.mnet.co.za.
