Studios face WGA wrath

Hollywood’s problems seem to be getting bigger and bigger. Studio Briefing reports that the Writers Guild of America (WGA) plans to file for arbitration against the film studio and TV network executives as represented by the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers (AMPTP), for allegedly failing to pay Internet residuals.

SAFTAS nominees announced

The nominees for the third annual South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAS) were announced on 19 November in Johannesburg. Winners will be awarded at a glittering ceremony on 7 February 2009 at the State Theatre in Pretoria.

The new South African drama, Joshua Rous’ Discreet, made the number 8 spot in Ster-Kinekor’s Top 8 for the weekend of 14 to 16 March. This was the film’s opening weekend.
