Dan Akinlolu and Anthony Oseyemi are to co-produce a psychological thriller titled
Altered. According to UK born Nigerian actor Oseyemi,
Altered, as a short film, has been one of his most ambitious projects in
recent years.
Oseyemi, who has featured in a number of local and international productions
including The Book of Negroes and Room 9, wrote the
script and is set to star in the film. Akinlolu is a filmmaker and media executive,
founder of film/TV production company Media Navigation and the founder of Mafrik
TV – a 24/7 mobile TV channel which streams premium West African music videos
on the Tuluntulu platform.
Co-producer and director Akinlolu comments, “One element which drew me into the
script was the brilliant and mature dialogue. It’s a story about the complications of
human nature and how we struggle daily between the dual nature of good and evil.
When Anthony brought the script to me I couldn’t resist the upsurge of creativity
that flushed through my mind from the first reading.’
Altered tells the story of Bandele (Oseyemi), a Nigerian-Yoruba
migrant whose upmarket coloured South-African wife (Thandi Matsimbi) has an
alter ego which damages their one-night love game.
Production on the film is set to commence at the end of November in the Northcliff
area of Randburg, Johannesburg.
