As the producers, writers and actors of the feature film, Pad na jou
Hart, Ivan Botha and Donnalee Roberts have combined their strengths again
– and their new offering, the Afrikaans romantic adventure movie, Vir
Altyd, will grace the big screen soon.
Vir Altyd is not a sequel to Pad na jou Hart though Danie
Bester (co-producer), Jaco Smit (director) and Jacques Koudstaal
(cinematographer) are working together as a team once again for the film.
Vir Altyd begins in the picturesque South African town Paarl. The film
then transports audiences on a further adventure as an Air Mauritius plane touches
down on the island of love. The team explored Mauritius for three weeks with
partner, the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA), during the filming of
the movie. The film is primarily shot at World Leisure Holidays and Sun Resorts’
luxury five-star Long Beach Golf and Spa Resort in Mauritius.
The symbolic style that is a trademark of Botha and Roberts’ projects is clearly seen
in Vir Altyd. These two writers, producers and actors hope to hold up
a mirror with which viewers can identify and possibly recognise themselves – and
the relationships in which they find themselves. Vir Altyd comprises
strong relationship themes and portrays the different seasons of love via different
couples. Therefore, the movie will resonate with every person – male and female;
young and old.
Apart from the two main actors, Botha (Hugo) and Roberts (Nina), the cast also
includes other South African actors Illse Roos (Marietjie Botha), Dirk Stoltz (Ben
Botha), Elize Cawood (Aunt Betsie van Zyl) and Wilson Dunster (Uncle Paul van
Zyl), among others.
Francois Bloemhof adapted the script, written by Botha and Roberts, into a novel,
which was released during October 2015 and is published by NB Publishers.
The film’s soundtrack will be released at the same time as the movie in February
2016. The songwriter and singer, Joshua na die Reen, wrote and performed the
theme song, also titled ’Vir Altyd’ which will be released in November 2015.
The film will be released nationwide on 12 February 2016 by Ster-Kinekor, Nu Metro
and independent theatres.
