The Aggressives, a dynamic gay film set in New York City, screens at Constitution Hill in
Johannesburg on 28 November.
Featuring intimate interviews with six lesbians who define themselves as “Agressives’,
the film shows their daily lives and their participation in the underground lesbian “ball’
scene (the female counterpart to “Paris is Burning’).
Although the “Aggressives’ range in masculinity, they do not aspire to be men. Having
found an unexplored loophole in society’s gender tapestry, the movie seeks to explore
these women’s world.
The film is provided courtesy of the Out In Africa Suitcase and starts screening at
19h00 in the Mandela Courtyard. Tickets cost R40 per person.
