The Osama bin Laden manhunt drama, Zero Dark Thirty, directed by Kathryn Bigelow, is in top spot at the US box office, earning $24 million in its first weekend in wide release reports CBS News.
The film received five Oscar nominations including Best Picture, Original Screenplay and Best Actress for Jessica Chastain who won the Golden Globe for Best Actress, Motion Picture, Drama on Sunday, 13 January.
A Haunted House, starring Marlon Wayans came in second at the box office with $18.8 million while the mobster drama, Gangster Squad, starring Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, Josh Brolin and Emma Stone opened with $16.7 million, below expectations.
