According to The Hollywood Reporter the 3D rerelease of Titanic earned $58m in China this weekend – the best opening weekend gross of all time for the country.
The record was previously held by Transformers: Dark of the Moon which earned $55m during its opening weekend in China last year.
Titanic 3D has now earned $191m after 12 days of international release, pushing the film’s lifetime gross over the $2b mark.
The 3D conversion, personally supervised by director James Cameron, reportedly cost $18m.
