SABC News reports that newly appointed South African Communications Minister Dina Pule has committed to fill the vacancies within the SABC’s top strata of executive management as soon as possible.
The SABC currently has a number of top executives who are acting in their posts, a fact which the television production industry believes is contributing to the beleaguered broadcaster’s downward spiral.
Minister Pule told the SABC board on 14 November that the filling of the group chief executive officer (GCEO), chief operations officer (COO) and chief financial officer (CFO) positions are her top priority.
The industry eagerly awaits to see who will be appointed – whether they will be politically heavy appointees rather than people with a sound knowledge and experience of the business of broadcasting.
