Sapa reports that the Cape Town film Commission (CFC) has been publicly lobbying the production company handling the 23rd instalment of the James Bond franchise, in an attempt to persuade the producers to shoot some sequences in Cape Town.
Traditionally, parts of each Bond film in the franchise have been shot at England’s famed Pinewood Studios, which is listed as a location for Bond 23 on www.imdb.com.
Said CFC CEO Denis Lillie: “Rumours about Bond 23 being shot in Cape Town have been around for some time. There has been no official announcement yet, but there has also been no denial.’
Bond 23 will be directed by Oscar winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Revolutionary Road), with Daniel Craig reprising the lead role for the third time. Dame Judi Dench is set to play “M’, as she did in several previous Bond films.
