A total of seven South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAS) were presented to the feature film, Life, Above All, on 28 February at a gala event held at Madame Zingara’s Theatre of Dreams in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg.
The film won Best Feature Film, Best Director (Oliver Schmitz), Best Writing, Best Ensemble Cast, Best Costume Design, Best Actress (Khomotso Manyaka) and Best Supporting Actress (Harriet Manamela).
ÒThe success of Life, Above All at the SAFTAS is absolutely wonderful,’ says Schmitz. “I am honored, proud and elated. Today is my birthday and I could not think of a better present. Thanks to the wonderful actors and crew I worked with on the film,” says Schmitz.
Winner of the Best TV Drama award was the Afrikaans series, Erfsondes, produced by Imani Media. Henrietta Gryffenberg won the Best Writing award for the same series.
