The National Association of Manufacturers in Electronics Components (Namec) is still adamant that the South African government has made a mistake in adopting the DVB-T2 (Digital Video Broadcasting-Terrestrial 2) standard for the country’s migration from analogue broadcasting to digital broadcasting.
Namec was quoted on www.iafrica.com on 18 January as describing the standard as “bad news’, saying it was “ill-suited’ for South African conditions.
In addition the association maintains that DVB-T2 won’t stand up to the country’s “developmental needs’ and will only entrench white monopolies in the electronics manufacturing industry.
