David Fincher’s film about the founders of Facebook, The Social Network, won four Golden Globes at the 68th annual ceremony held in Hollywood on 16 November – Best Picture (Drama), Best Director (Fincher), Best Screenplay and Best Original Score.

The Golden Globes, regarded as the most important forerunner to the Oscars, are voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Best Actor and Best Actress honours in the Motion Picture – Drama category went to Colin Firth (The King’s Speech) and Natalie Portman (Black Swan).

The musical series Glee was the big winner in the television category, winning Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best TV Series: Musical or Comedy. Boardwalk won the Best TV Series: Drama award.

Jim Parsons’ hysterically funny turn as super-nerd Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory won him the Best Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy award.
