The Digital Broadcasting Switchover Forum (DBSF) organised by the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) has been a successful annual forum for the CTO over the last four years. The conference focuses on the digital switchover and the key developments in broadcasting. The event is particularly significant this year due to the opportunities offered by the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa in June, whereby many analysts predict this will result in a surge of interest in the platform.
Of particular focus this year will be the delivery of digital migration planning, the funding of the next generation of infrastructure and the need to deliver the large number of set-top boxes necessary for the success of the plan.
A pre-conference workshop focused on participants from developing countries, scheduled on the 21 April 2010, will also provide participating members essential guidance for the successful transition of the digital switchover. It will cover areas on policy and regulation on the Digital Broadcasting Switchover, infrastructure and funding for the ongoing migration, best practices on capacity development, and stakeholder collaboration for a successful transition.
