This year’s edition of the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, which runs in Cannes, France from 20 to 26 June, will introduce the new category of Crafts. The category honours the skill and quality of craft and technique as demonstrated in the filmmaking process.
Jury president for the Crafts category is the award-winning Jon Kamen, CEO and chair of one of the world’s most respected content companies, @radical.media. Members of his jury are: Joao Daniel Tikhomiroff, president, Mixer, Brazil; François Chilot, president producer, Les Producers, France; Calvin Soh, vice chair and chief creative officer – Asia, Publicis Asia, Singapore; Ringan Ledwidge, director, Rattling Stick, UK; and Joe Pytka, director, Pytka, USA.
The Film Craft jury will award Lions to films based on the quality of the direction, copywriting, cinematography or editing as well as the skilful use of music, sound design or animation. The level of the emotional bond with the work and whether the craft of the work adds something to the idea and pushes the execution will also be taken into account.
The Craft awards will be presented in Cannes on Saturday 26 June 2010, alongside the Film, Titanium and Integrated winners.
