Zim filmmaker appointed as script mentor for Kenya film lab

One of Zimbabwe’s most prominent filmmakers Tsitsi Dangarembga who has just completed principal photography for the next part of her folktale trilogy Kare Kare Zvako has been appointed as one of the script mentors for the film lab Maisha which takes place in Nairobi in November.

Maisha has been established by Canandian-Indian Mira Nair (Salaam Bombay, Kamsutra, Monsoon Wedding)  who is considered one of the world’s foremost female directors.

Dangarembga’s short film, Sharing Day, was screened recently at the Durban International Film Festival. The film is a musical drama about the impact of HIV and the response of young people. It stars senior Zimbabwean actress Sandra Chidawanyika and singer Plaxedes Wenyika.
