A new season of opera magic is heading to Cinema Nouveau in November, direct from the New York Metropolitan Opera House.
These hot-off-the-stage productions have been specially filmed to bring the magic and excitement of the Met’s live performances to vivid life on the big screen.
The third season of Opera at Cinema Nouveau promises even more artistic delights, which will feature the world’s most exquisite opera voices scaling the heights and plumbing the depths of emotion, complemented by lavish staging and high-end production values.
Highlights include Puccini’s Tosca and Turandot, Verdi’s Aïda (in which internationally acclaimed South African tenor Johan Botha features as Radamès) and Bizet’s Carmen. In addition, Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra features a rare appearance by Plácido Domingo, one of the world’s most beloved tenors.
“If the popularity of the preceding seasons is any indication, then we at Cinema Nouveau are most delighted that audiences have embraced the genre and we will continue to bring operas to screens around the country,” explains Dr Raksha Singh, National Marketing Manager for Cinema Nouveau.
“The opera season starts in November 2009 at Cinema Nouveau cinemas nationwide, and continues into 2010.
