Mauritius Broadcast Corporation (MBC) has been upgraded with a R7m Avid Unity ISIS media storage solution by South African-based Spescom Media IT. This upgrade which boosts storage capacity and post-production efficiencies, signals a further evolution towards a fully digital environment for the broadcaster.
MBC’s television network currently consists of three analogue channels and six digital channels. Two new digital terrestrial channels were launched in 2008 and a project for a 24-hour rolling news station is well under way and will provide an interactive platform for local, regional and international news.
Says Sean du Toit, MD of Spescom Media IT: "We have a strong partnership with MBC and a keen understanding of the organisationÕs evolving needs. As it expands its services, speed, efficiency and agility are increasingly becoming critical elements in its production and post production operations.
"MBC’s move to upgrade its AVID Unity LANshare media storage solution to the higher capacity ‘industrial strength’ Avid Unity ISIS solution will give it faster access to content and deliver considerable post production efficiencies."
The Avid Unity ISIS provides up to 384 TB of storage capacity and will connect up to 330 clients. It is ideal for large, mission-critical production and post production environments.
Spescom Media IT operates in sub-Saharan Africa, Mauritius and the Seychelles.
