The battle of the Hollywood blockbuster sequels at the South African box office has been stepped up a notch with the release of “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’, the fifth in the phenomenally popular Harry Potter series based on the novels of JK Rowling. Its opening week performance of R7.7m has put it tops for the week of 13 to 19 July.
“Shrek the Third’ has moved to second spot in its third week with R18.8m. Then comes Bruce Willis’ “Die Hard 4.0′ (R5.7m), “Fantastic Four & The Rise of the Silver Surfer’ (R9.7m) and “Oceans 13′ at R9.2m.
“Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World’s End’ is still in the top 10 after eight weeks, with R14.7m. (Figures supplied by SAFACT)
