Four Hollywood mega-blockbusters account for the top spots at the South African box office. The animated “Shrek the Third’ is the most recent release and was the top earner in its opening weekend (29 June – 1 July) with a massive R6.4m.
In second spot is “Fantastic Four & The Silver Surfer’ in its second week of release, followed by “Ocean’s 13′ in its third week and “Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World’s End’, which has been on circuit for six weeks.
“Spider-Man 3′ which has had nine weeks on the circuit is in ninth spot. The arthouse Swedish release “As It Is In Heaven’, has been on release for 10 weeks and is in 10th spot. (Box office figures supplied by SAFACT)
