Beyond the River has been described as “one of the best local films in the past twenty years’. It has been a hot topic of conversation since releasing in cinemas nine weeks ago. The Heartlines and Quizzical Pictures produced film is about two men from very different walks of life who have one thing in common: to win Gold in the Dusi Canoe Marathon. The film is based on true life events of Siseko Ntondini and Piers Cruickshanks.
What’s contributed to the success of the film has been how it appeals to different audiences in the corporate, faith-based and educational space and also across different races; whether they love sport or not. Most have said that it is a story almost every South African can relate to.
Beyond the River has received some international interest as well with people from as far afield as Australia, Brazil, The United States of America, just to name a few, wanting to show the film in their various communities. It is definitely a film in demand!
For those back home in South Africa, those who did not get the chance to see it on the big screen – there’s an opportunity for them to see it in the comfort of their own homes. The film will be available on DSTV’s Box Office from 24 June 2017. So you have no excuse to miss it. And for those who do not have access to Box Office, we also have you covered. The DVD will be available for sale and rental stores nationwide in July.

Starring screen legend, Grant Swanby (Blood Diamond, Mandela-Long Walk to Freedom and Invictus) as Steve, and Lemogang Tsipa (When We Were Black, Traffic! and Jab), who makes his debut lead role as Duma.
