The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and Communications Workers Union (CWU) have concluded a salary increment and substantive negotiations for this financial year.
Both parties have reached an agreement of a 7 per cent salary increment and the ex gratia payment that will be paid out at the end of this quarter, however, this payment is subject to the good performance of the organisation. The parties have also agreed on to moratorium on retrenchments.
The agreement is applicable to all CWU members and non-unionised employees and will be implemented at the end of May 2016, backdated from April 2016.
The Chief Operations Officer (COO), Hlaudi Motsoeneng, stated: “We are happy that we have had a very good working relationship with CWU since 2011. We are happier that despite the challenges during the negotiations where we were faced with tough economic time we have managed to reach an agreement. We would also like to thank the union leadership for the commitment they have displayed throughout the process.’
