AAA Entertainment is gearing up for their annual presence at the Cannes International Film Festival’s Marche du Film market. AAA Entertainment and Koan Inc will be co-hosting a stand in the Riviera (E6) this year and are looking at working together on a slate of projects as executive producers and sales agents. The 69th annual Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to be held from 11 to 22 May 2016
One of the projects AAA Entertainment and Koan Inc will be collaborating on is Sjambok, an international feature film produced by Susan Douglass and Nigel Wooll, producer of major blockbusters including GI Jane, Patriot Games and Miss Potter. AAA Entertainment will be co-producing and seeking additional financing in Cannes for this feature that is written and directed by Rudolf Buitendach. US based Koan Inc will be handling all international sales and distribution, and the film will have a top international cast, through the film’s casting partners and executive producers Brillstein Entertainment, alongside established South African veteran actors. Production on the film is set to commence in 2017.
AAA Entertainment will also be hosting an exclusive VIP cocktail event on 14 May, with partners Finnish tech company Striim, as well as the Joburg Film Festival. Surprise announcements are expected to be made on the night and guests can expect to taste South African flavours of music and culture.
AAA Entertainment is very optimistic about finding deals at this year’s Cannes Festival as head of sales Pascal Schmitz explains, “This year we are taking some of South Africa’s best films of 2016 to the market, including the wildly successful Happiness is a Four Letter Word, for which we have great expectations of securing lucrative distribution deals for several global territories. We are also excited to be working so closely with our new international partners and bring the world’s attention to South Africa as a shooting destination and the stories we have to tell.’
