AFDA Pro editing course in Johannesburg


AFDA Pro, short courses for industry professionals presented by AFDA Johannesburg, is hosting a three week course in editing.

The South African Film and Television industry has grown significantly over the past 20 years. This dynamic growth together with exponential shifts in technology, local and global competition, and the emergence of online platforms and business opportunities has created a need for short courses that are aimed at upgrading existing skills, switching areas of professional focus, and developing new skills for opportunities and challenges of the future.

Dates: 27 June to 15 July 2016 or 19 September to 7 October 2016

Venue: AFDA Johannesburg

Course duration: Full-time Monday to Friday over three weeks

Objectives of the course: Editing refresher (Da Vinci Lite and Final Cut Pro 7) to update current editors in other software programmes, to introduce new editors to the basic skills required, and to supplement both groups with basic skills orientation on other post-production techniques (a brief overview in sound and visual effects available on Final Cut). The post-production workflow and data management will be covered.

A certificate will be issued upon completion.

The minimum requirement for an AFDA Pro course is five years of experience in the industry or a relevant degree in the field. Recognised prior learning may be accepted.
A minimum of six participants are required for the course to run.
