Mzansi Magic’s interactive live music show Please Call Me just got more exciting with a new look and the addition of Bob Mabena and Thembi Seete to the presenter line-up.
The two iconic South Africa music figures will join current Please Call Me presenter Mandla Hlatshwayo on the popular show that allows viewers to make a live dedication and request their favourite music video to accompany it.
Hlatshwayo, the winner of Big Brother Mzansi season 1, as well as Kaya FM’s Mabena and the multi-talented Seete will be fronting a significantly revamped Please Call Me.
Against the background of a stunning new set, Please Call Me now also includes a Top 5 chart, celebrity telephone interviews and a song of the week pick. These elements are set to be an excellent complement to the show’s main drawcard – live call dedications from ordinary South Africans.
Bob Mabena needs little introduction to South African music fans. Having started at Radio Bop in 1988, where he presented the Afternoon and Breakfast shows, Mabena joined Metro FM in 1992, enjoying a lengthy career at the station including being the presenter of both the Morning and Afternoon Drives. His career has also included being Music Manager and GM at 94.7 Highveld Stereo and, in 1999, Mabena moved to Kaya FM as its Breakfast show host.
Seete is a South African singer star, television presenter and actress who came to fame as one of the founding members of kwaito group Boom Shaka. After the breakup of Boom Shaka, Seete went on to launch both a successful solo music career and an acting career. Her association with Mzansi Magic goes back to 2012 when she was appointed one of the seven choirmasters for the Mzansi Magic reality competition Clash of the Choirs South Africa, which aired in 2013. Seete also currently hosts Mzansi Magic/Mzansi Wethu game show Nguwe Na?, in which singles compete for a chance to win a date.
