FOX International Channels Africa have announced the addition of seven new shows to FOX and FOX Crime’s line-ups in 2015.
First up is The Strain, a vampire-themed series by Academy Award nominated film maker, Guillermo del Toro, premiering on FOX (DStv channel 125) on 9 February at 20:30.
There’s more to look forward to on Wednesday nights with the addition of hip-hop centered drama series, Empire (starting 4 March at 21h00), with Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson as leads. Empire, is a collaboration between director/producer Lee Daniels and writer Danny Strong, with all the music created and supervised by Timbaland.
On 12 March two new comedies are set to launch– Fresh off the Boat at 20h10 and You’re the Worst at 21h00. Based on celebrity chef Eddie Huang’s memoir of the same name, Fresh off the Boat centers on Eddie’s childhood moving from Washington DC’s Chinatown to Orlando where his father bought a cowboy-themed steakhouse.
You’re the Worst, from producer Stephen Falk, the man behind the highly acclaimed Orange is the New Black and Weeds, centers on the relationship of narcissist Jimmy Shive-Overly and stubborn cynic Gretchen Cutler who is certain amorous bonds aren’t her thing.
May will also see the launch of the highly anticipated Wayward Pines on the 14th at 21h25, a mind-bending 10-episode event thriller by M. Night Shyamalan starring Matt Dillon and Carla Gugino.
Tyrant, a drama series that offers an intriguing mix of family dynamics and Middle East politics, will premiere in June.
FOX Crime (DStv channel 126) has two new shows in the first half of the year for fans of crime drama.
Backstrom which launches on 5 March at 21h20, comes from Hart Hanson, and is a darkly humorous crime drama. Rainn Wilson stars as Everett Backstrom, a cop whose self-destructive tendencies and anti-social behaviour are mitigated only by his utter brilliance as a detective. The month of June will see the start of the procedural drama series Legends, starring Sean Bean, also on FOX Crime.
