Submissions for The Short Film Project, an initiative by Ster-Kinekor’s Cinema
Nouveau in partnership with digital media content specialists Spectrum and
cinematic experience company ShortandSweet, close on Friday, 24 October.
However, extensions may be granted to participants who have a short film which
isn’t finished yet, that they would like to enter.

The Short Film Project offers filmmakers, both established and emerging, the
opportunity to produce and enter a short film of ten minutes. After entries are
evaluated by a panel of judges, a short list of finalists is selected to appear on the
big screen before feature films, from 14 November to 14 December. Thereafter, a
final selection, which is announced on 2 February 2015, appears during Cinema
Nouveau Oscar weekend, where it will screen to large cinema audiences.

The overall winning director receives R20 000 worth of Sony camera equipment and
a screening at the 2015 Durban International Film Festival. The winner of the
Audience Choice Award also wins a screening of his or her film at 2015 Durban
International Film Festival.

To enter, filmmakers need to complete an entry form and submit this, together with
their short film via Dropbox to: shortfilmproject@sterkinekor.com.
All project details and information can be found on the Cinema Nouveau website.
