On 22 October at 19h00, Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161) serves viewers their first
helping of Something’s Cooking, featuring Joao da Fonseca – known to
music fans as J’Something of the hugely popular South African group Micasa.

“There has been a massive explosion in foodie culture and cooking shows all over the
world. Chefs and wanna-be chefs have become household names and there are plenty
of shows that offer amateur cooks the chance to be in the spotlight,’ says Nkateko
Mabaso, M-Net’s director for Local Interest Channels. “But Something’s
Cooking
turns that on its head, with a household name launching his own
cooking show – and Mzansi Magic is thrilled to be part of that.’

Over 13 episodes J’Something invites audiences into his kitchen where he reveals
how his passion for food, family background in the restaurant world and Portuguese
and African roots combine to create delicious culinary experiences. As he explores
new ingredients and cooking styles, J’Something gives fans the opportunity to share
in his everyday life and proves you don’t have to be a professional chef to create
magic in the kitchen.

“When I don’t sing I cook,’ says J’Something. “Life is a classic recipe of hard work,
good friends and a perfect grilled sarmie. Something’s Cooking is who I
am, not perfect but passionate.’
