On Saturday, 19 July from 09h00 to 10h00, Locations Africa, a showcase and
discussion platform on location shooting and film facilitation in Africa, will take
place as part of Durban Film Mart – an initiative by the Durban International Film
Festival and the Durban Film Office aimed at developing African filmmakers.
Durban Film Office’s Toni Monty remarks, “We are excited to have Locations
Africa participate at the 5th Durban FilmMart. It is a great initiative promoting
Africa and all the beautiful locations we have surrounding us. We look forward
to their discussions.’
Locations Africa will present to professionals in the audio visual arena, the value
which Africa offers in terms of filming facilitation. The organizers believe that the
platform will not only contribute to increased filming on the continent, but will
also improve the ability of those in the private and public sector to meet
filmmakers’ needs, and contribute to building Africa’s brand identity.
Following the African Initiatives panel discussion, Locations Africa will join the
National Film and Video Foundation for the African in Focus panel , which takes
place between 10h00 and 11h00; in an initiative to the engage with the
industry and uncover potential opportunities available to producers in Africa.
The Durban FilmMart (DFM) takes place from 18 to 21 July 2014, alongside the
