At 09h45 on 18 July, Videovision Entertainment, a South African film production
and distribution company, Ster-Kinekor and The Nelson Mandela Foundation
invite South Africans to celebrate Mandela Day by attending free screenings of
Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom at selected cinemas across the country.
The screenings are an extension of the motto behind Mandela Day, which is:
“Take Action. Inspire Change. Make every day a Mandela Day,” and are aimed at
motivating people to uplift the lives of those less fortunate.
“We hope that the audience watching the film will be inspired to give back to
their communities by following Madiba’s example,” says Anant Singh, Producer of
the movie, who adds that he is excited to be collaborating with Ster-Kinekor.
Sello Hatang, Chief Executive of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, refers to
Mandela as an inspiration to the country and remembers the legacy he has left
behind. “Let us all emulate the servant leader we loved by all becoming servant
leaders ourselves. We urge the public to attend the free screenings.’
Ster Kinekor adds, “We hope that many will leave our cinemas motivated to
serve others and serve our country.’
