On 7 June, Leading Lady, a film by renowned South African director Henk Pretorius (Fanie Fourie’s Lobola, Bakgat) premieres at the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF). SA musician Matthew Mole will be performing live at the event.
The movie tells the story of a British drama school teacher who persuades a South African farmer to help prepare her for a major film role as an Afrikaans war heroine. In return she offers to direct the annual farm concert.
Irish actress Katie McGrath (W.E., Merlin), who was recently cast in Steven Spielberg’s Jurrasic World stars in the film with SA actor Bok van Blerk (As Jy Sing, Vrou Soek Boer), US actor Gil Bellows (CSI, The Shawshank Redemption) and SA actress Brumilda van Rensburg (Musiek vir die Agtergrond, Egoli).
Produced by Dark Matter Studios, Leading Lady will release in South African cinemas on 28 November.
