In celebration of Vanity Fair Magazine’s 20th Hollywood issue, American painter and photographer Chuck Close has captured 20 Hollywood celebrities, without make-up.
Stars such as Brad Pitt, Oprah Winfrey, Scarlett Johansson, Sean Penn, George Clooney, Kate Winslet, Bruce Willis, Julia Roberts and Forest Whitaker participated in the collection of “raw’ photographs.
Close insisted that the shoot be informal and that his subjects not be professionally styled, along with a number of requirements:
• Three hours of availability for the shoot
• Only one additional person would be invited to attend the shoot with the subject
• Coffee and deli sandwiches or salads would be the extent of the catering provided
• The subject would need to arrange their own transport to and from the shoot
