The online team at eNews Channel Africa (eNCA), South Africa’s first 24-hour news
service, has put together a website capturing the tributes and messages following
Nelson Mandela’s death on 5 December.
Visitors to the website can post their tributes by using their Facebook accounts to
log in, write a message for Madiba and light a candle that is displayed on a map.
Tributes can also be shared with Facebook friends and family.
Launched on 6 December, the campaign has seen 1,500 candles lit so far.
Designed to hold thousands of candles, South Africans can visit the website to light
their virtual candles in remembrance of Mandela, global icon of peace and
reconciliation.
