MTV releases drama series title track

From Friday 15 November, a preview of the new title track for MTV Base drama, Shuga, will be available on the channel’s website as well as key radio outlets.

Sweet Like Shuga reflects the themes featured in the TV show and will release in two versions: a full track produced by Del’b that features Flavour, Kcee, Chidinma, Sound Sultan and Professor and an Afro-Pop variety.

Nigerian music video director, Clarence Peters, has been selected to shoot the music video, premiering exclusively on Spanking New on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322).

Produced by MTV Base and the MTV Staying Alive Foundation in collaboration with National Association for Clean Air (NACA), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the TV series and multimedia campaign focuses on sex, relationships and prevailing public health issues among Nigerian youth.

Some of the topics featured include: living with HIV; disclosing your status; getting tested; condom use; gender based violence; gender equality; women’s empowerment; family planning; pregnancy; transactional sex; multiple concurrent partners; stigma and discrimination of people living with HIV; and parent/child communication.

As well as airing on TV and digital platforms around the world, Shuga premieres on World AIDS Day, Sunday 1 December 2013 at 21h00.
