The One Fine Day Films / Ginger Ink Film Workshop, which consists of two modules –
Production Design and Feature Film – runs until 27 September in Nairobi, Kenya with 55
participants from 14 African countries.
One Fine Day Films is an initiative created by renowned German filmmaker Tom Tykwer
(Run Lola Run, Perfume) and Marie Steinmann to enable emerging African filmmakers to
tell
their own stories. Films to have come out of One Fine Day Films training workshops
include
Soul Boy, Nairobi Half Life, Something Necessary and Veve.
The aim of the organisation is to use the teaching of art and aesthetic principles to allow
children and young adults in disadvantaged regions of the world to discover and explore
their artistic talent and imagination.
Says One Fine Day Films producer Sarika Hemi Lakhani: “Our workshops see the training
of
young filmmakers in various departments by professional filmmakers from all over the
world. They then go on to realise a feature film as on-the-job training.’
The workshops are supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation
and Development, the Film & Medienstiftung NRW, the Goethe-Institut Nairobi and ARRI
Film & TV Services.
