South Africa’s newly appointed Minister of Communications, Yunus Carrim, and Deputy Minister, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, will visit public service broadcaster SABC in Johannesburg on 17 July to be briefed by the board and management on progress since the appointment of the interim board and to ascertain what assistance the Department of Communications can offer to ensure the SABC functions effectively.
Among the issues likely to be discussed are: challenges being experienced by the SABC; progress on finalising senior management positions; digital migration; and finalisation of the shareholder compact.
