The world premiere of Disney-Pixar’s Monsters University was held at the El Capitan Theatre on 17 June in Hollywood, California. The movie releases nationwide in South Africa on Friday 21 June.
The film tells the story of college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) who has dreamed of being a Scarer since he was a little monster. He knows better than anyone that Scarers come from Monsters University (MU). During the first semester he crosses paths with the cool James P. Sullivan or Sulley (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born scarer.
When the both get kicked out of the university’s elite Scare Program, they realise they have to work together with a bunch of misfit monsters to make things right.
Monsters University also stars the voice talents of Steve Buscemi, Helen Mirren, Alfred Molina and Peter Sohn, among others. The movie was directed by Dan Scanlon.
