Colin Moss, Gareth Woods and Hanno Gelderblom will join comic Casper de Vries at the next Comedy Central Presents… Live at Parker’s stand-up comedy gig on 27 March 2013.
Razor-sharp satire is the trademark of comedian, writer and actor Casper de Vries (@casperrasper). Afrikaans comedian De Vries has a powerful stage presence, inventive humour and outspoken views that combine into a comic tour de force that has transfixed audiences from Pretoria to the London Palladium. Not afraid to send up any subject under the sun, De Vries happily tramples over taboos, ensuring that no one or nothing escapes his scrutiny.
Colin Moss (@ColinMossSA) is a South African actor and television personality best known for presenting Fear Factor and Idols, and for starring in various film and television roles. However, Moss started his career as a standup comic. Comedy is a lifelong passion for Moss and he continually goes back to his roots and regularly works the comedy circuit – in South Africa as well as in the UK and Ireland.
Casper de Vries’ alter ego and comic creation Hanno Gelderblom also plays a starring role at this month’s Comedy Central Presents… Live at Parker’s. Played by De Vries, Hanno is an unreconstructed and unrefined, straight-talking drinker who tells it as he sees it – from the bottom of a bottle of liquor. Hanno first made his debut on the Casper Rasper Show as the manager of a fictional old-age girl group called Die Jerry-Hattricks.
Gareth Woods (@thegarethwoods) was born in 1984 as the son of a preacher and an English teacher. Woods struggled to fit in, beset by preconceived ideas about “preacher’s kids’ in the strict Afrikaans town in which he was raised. Woods’ style is a witty and anecdotal analysis of life’s everyday occurrences and he gives a fresh view of the ordinary via dry one-liners, quirky observations and maybe a song or two. Woods was also part of the Durban Comedy Invasion which debuted at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown in 2011 to glowing reviews.
Launched just over a year ago, Comedy Central on DStv Channel 122 has successfully “lured the nation’s top comics into hosting their regular monthly stand-up gig held on the last Wednesday of every month’.
