Bino and Fino, a Nigerian educational animation series recently started screening at the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) in San Francisco.
Targeted at children between the ages of three and six, the cartoon, which launched in October 2010, revolves around a brother and sister, Bino and Fino who live with their grandparents in a fictional African city.
According to a report by Soul Beat Africa, “Bino and Fino have many adventures where, with the help of their friend Zeena, the Magic Butterfly, they discover and learn things about the world’.
The producers see the series as a mix between Charlie and Lola and Dora the Explorer.
Says creator of Bino and Fino, Adamu Waziri, “Part of the aim of Bino and Fino is to promote positive aspects of Nigerian and African culture (as a whole) to children around the world”.
