The new South African Afrikaans language musical, Pretville (69 prints), made the number five spot at the local box office over the weekend of 30 November to 2 December, against massive competition from the new Bond movie, Skyfall (125 prints), and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 (111 prints).
Pretville made R542,309 over the weekend, bringing its cumulative box office after two weeks of release to R1.9m
Skyfall was the top earner over the weekend, making just over R7m. It was followed by Breaking Dawn Part 2 which made R3.5m. After only three weeks of release Breaking Dawn Part 2 has made a gargantuan R29.2m.
In third spot was the new animated release Finding Nemo (3D) (63 prints), which made R971,881, followed by Taken 2, which made R684,242. After eight weeks of release, Taken 2 has made a handy R17,093,897. (Figures supplied by SAFACT)
