The sequel to the kidnap drama Taken, starring Liam Neeson and Famke Janssen, remained at the top of the South African box office for the weekend of 2 to 4 November. Released with 69 prints Taken 2’s box office after four weeks of release is R11.9m.
New release Cloud Atlas (Tom Hanks, Halle Berry) (65 prints) took the number two spot and made R683,976 in its opening weekend.
Meanwhile, the South African film, Wolwedans in die Skemer (32 prints), is still in the Combined Top 10 of the box office. After five weeks of release it has made R3.7m and was in the number nine spot.
Another South African film, Stilte (15 prints), broke the R1m mark over the weekend. It has been on release for four weeks.
