African community radio workers and anyone interested in communication for development have the opportunity to participate in an online course titled “How to turn voices into community change”, from Wednesday 17 October.
The seven week digital course is described as: “A thorough step-by-step introduction to creation of sustainable community radio for empowerment.”
Birgitte Jallov, a trainer, empowerment coach and author of the acclaimed book Empowerment Radio, conducts the course under her company Empower House. Jallov has developed models and tools from the book, as well as additional tools for practical use.
“Course participants can download the audio presentations and stories, the chapters and the models referred to in the audio. Seven modules are presented in a learning period lasting until 28 November,” says Jallov.
Access to some modules will continue each Wednesday until the end of the course. Participants will still, as part of their package, have access to the moderated online forum until the end of the year.
“The course is made for people seeking to ensure effective ownership and sustainability for Community Radio. It is the first online, digital course on this subject, answering questions and providing practical hands on directions and tools for action”, she comments.
