After 10 weeks of release the South African slapstick comedy, Mad Buddies (26 prints), is still in the Combined Top 10 at the box office and made the number seven spot for the weekend of 24 to 26 August. To date the film has made a massive R25.2m.
The number one spot over the weekend was occupied by Step Up 4: Revolution (including 3D) (79 prints) which made R3.4m. After two weeks of release its cumulative box office is R8.6m.
Woody Allen’s new film, To Rome with Love (17 prints), starring Penelope Cruz, Jesse Eisenberg, Alec Baldwin, Roberto Benigni and Allen himself, opened over the weekend and made the number five spot with R372,179.
In spots number two, three and four respectively over the weekend were Brave (including 3D) (69 prints) at R1.3m, new release Ted (66 prints) at just over R1m, and Dark Knight Rises (77 prints) at R14.5m.
Another South African film, Lucky (1 print) has been on release for six weeks and has made 117,888. (Figures supplied by SAFACT)
