Last October saw the completion of what is positioned as the first Nollywood film ever to be co-produced in Ukraine. Feathered Dreams, which boasts high production values, is being marketed by its producers as the first Nigerian production in Europe.
The film tells the story of Sade (Omoni Oboli), a young Nigerian woman studying medicine in Ukraine. Sade dreams of becoming a singer, but when her father dies, so does her dream. Her mother forces her to go to Ukraine to study medicine so that she can provide for the family. She finds that Ukraine is a tough place and wishes she had somebody like her father to protect and listen to her.
Andrei Rozhen, who plays the main male character and is also the director of the film, traveled to Nigeria twice to familiarise his crew with the basics of a Nollywood production.
