South African lovers of reggae music are sure to enjoy the feature length documentary, Marley, about the legendary late reggae star Bob Marley, which is currently on release at Ster-Kinekor’s art house circuit, Cinema Nouveau. Directed by Kevin McDonald, the film examines Marley’s social and political influences by tracing his life story from his early days as a young musician to his rise to fame.
The documentary includes real footage from Marley’s life and features his son Ziggy and fellow reggae star Jimmy Cliff, among many others.
Marley, which will be shown in select Ster-Kinekor and Cinema Nouveau theatres around the country, reflects Bob Marley’s global popularity as well as the impact he had on the history of music.

The screening of Marley forms part of Ster-Kinekor Cinema Nouveau’s Doccie Fest, which will also include the viewing of Bully, Fuel and Searching for Sugarman.
Marley will be featured at all five of the Ster-Kinekor Cinema Nouveau sites – Gateway, Rosebank, Brooklyn, Cavendish and V&A Nouveau. The film will also be screened at the following select Ster-Kinekor cinemas: Promenade, Sterland, Southgate and Carlton.
