According to Reuters Oprah Winfrey has promised that her 15-month-old OWN network will succeed with a new strategy, while admitting that she had made mistakes in creating the cable channel.
Among the mistakes she mentioned was launching the network while she was still hosting The Oprah Winfrey Show and before they were ready. OWN, a joint venture between Winfrey and Discovery Communications, laid off 30 production staff members in May due to low ratings.
However, Winfrey recently boosted primetime ratings by making more appearances on the network with high-profile interviews including Whitney Houston’s family, Lady Gaga, rocker Steven Tyler and mega-church pastor Joel Osteen.
