South Africa’s Department of Communications has issued a short statement on behalf of its newly appointed Minister, Dina Pule, assuring the industry that she has noted the issues and challenges facing crisis-ridden public broadcaster SABC.
The statement reads: The Minister of Communications, Ms Dina Pule, is aware of all critical issues that need to be addressed to assist the Public Broadcaster to function efficiently ; execute its mandate and serve the needs of South Africans. Most importantly, to stabilise its leadership and ensure that all governance matters are adhered to by the board, management and the employees of the SABC.
