While standard definition (SD) images could always be produced at a quick rate, more realistic and complicated high definition (HD) images need a much faster processing time and increased computer power.
Masters & Savant Worldwide has upgraded its render farm to speed up the rendering of HD imagery. Says Masters & Savant Worldwide’s Johannesburg MD Roger Smythe: “What we have now is a massive 300-processor core and 496 gigabytes of physical memory which means our render farm is lightning fast. We can also deliver ultra-realistic and complex 3D work for the print illustration briefs we receive.
“The render farm has already been used for some long form visual effects work we have done for a feature film.’
