South African pay-TV operator TopTV recently won the prestigious SatCom Star Award for Best Satellite Broadcast Provider for Africa. TopTV beat competitors MultiChoice (which owns the DStv bouquets) and Arabsat.
Now in its third year, the SatCom Star Awards are designed to celebrate the continued growth and success of the satellite marketplace and focus on some of the exceptional performers within the industry
TopTV was honoured for having pushed the technology envelope in a new direction, while remaining competitive and affordable. Most importantly, TopTV has helped bring communication to the previous “not haves” of society.
The Awards are comprised of eight categories, each with three finalists. Judging is based on specific criteria such as the following: the number of terminals delivering services; an organisation that has pushed the technology envelope in a new direction; providing exceptional customer service and vouches for high levels of customer satisfaction; involvement in sponsoring, enhancing, and contributing to the training of employees; finding innovative ways to provide backhaul capacity to its clients; and the person whose role has advanced, and has expanded access to satellite communications in Africa.
