SABC3 has secured the rights to broadcast the full coverage of the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey on Friday 29 April. The live broadcast, “one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the century’, will be aired from 9am to 2.40pm.
Coverage of the build up to the event around Central London and other key locations such as St. Andrews and Middleton’s home village of Bucklebury will start three hours before the wedding service.
According to a press statement presenters will be stationed around Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace and The Mall. They will watch all the preparations as they unfold, report on all the movements and speak to members of the crowd who have travelled from all over to witness the wedding.
Viewers will also be hearing from guest experts in studio, including Royal historians and correspondents, fashion experts and possibly some of the guests who are attending the wedding service.
Throughout the transmission viewers will see the journey of all members of the Royal Family and the bride as they make their way to Westminster Abbey, the arrival of key guests and full coverage of the wedding service itself. Following the service, viewers will observe the full procession back to Buckingham Palace and reflections on the impact of the wedding on the United Kingdom and the rest of the world.
The programme will end just after the historic balcony appearance by Price William and Middleton and close members of the Royal Family.
